Here it is -Allan’s masterpiece!
He came in the room scratching his head…
as if to say, is this real?
He is SO happy!
He hopped up using the step.
and immediately starting driving!
works perfect for stories
Showing Auntie Karen.
Showing Leo
Fits two boys!
And yes he did sleep in it all night long. He fell asleep holding the steering wheel Grandma made him (sort of like a pillow) saying “I’m going to drive myself to sleep.” I think it was the best day of his life!!!

It’s really great you guys! Leo spent all day Sunday asking whether or not Finn really slept in it, or was he “too excited!”

Hi,
I have been looking everywhere for a tractor bed for my son who is 2. He is obsessed with tractors and is ready to move into a big boy bed. The cheapest thing I have found is $1500 plus shipping from the UK. Do you have plans for this bed? If not do you make them? Any help would be greatly appreciated by me and my little tractor man.
Thanks so much
Nikki

do you have plans to make this bed? My son would love this bed or one similar. Let me know if you would be willing to share. Thank you.

Like many others I am looking for a tractor bed for my 2 year old son. He plans to ask Santa Clause for one, and I can’t afford any I have found online. I teach, and some of my students who take carpentry have volunteered to work on building a tractor bed for their final project (I teach English). If you would share any plans, measurements, tips, etc. it would be greatly appreciated as they have only a short period and a small budget to work with.

There are no plans, it was “seat of the pants stuff” but this is what I can remember, hope this helps;
I started with a basic twin bed frame, she may be able to find one at an unfinished furniture store or knock one up pretty easily using 2×4’s (a twin mattress is 75″ long and 39″ wide).
A trip to a local furniture store to look at and take specs from a twin bed may help. Some good vendors to look at are H&H seen on page 2 of bunk beds on Jordans.com or http://www.thisendup.com
The roof is just 1/8″ ply (rounded on the corners to prevent sharp edges)- with a rubber hose sliced down one side and squeezed on over the edge.
The exhaust pipe is plumbing PVC pipe with a bendy section on top painted black and clamped on to the foot of the bed at the bottom. (cotton balls or tissues make good smoke)
The wheels will depend on the size of the bed frame she starts out with, and I just cut out with a jig saw and used my mouse to sand smooth. They can be “fixed on” or spin on an axis.
The radiator grill is bead board painted black and the license plate is self explanitory and painted white with black lettering. The step and struts to hold up the roof are just eyeballed and knocked up (I think I used 2×1’s)
The extra stuff was just a trip to Auto Zone for reflectors and lights etc. Then we added the farm sheets to complete the look.
Best of luck, send a photo.
